Oscar De La Renta

White taffeta ball gown with floral lace bodice and fleur sequin embroidered tulle overlay.

Oscar De La Renta is a Dominican- American fashion designer. He grew up in Santo Domingo and was the only boy out of 7 children. His family is rich in Dominican heritage and boasts many different poets and diplomats.

De La Renta studied painting in Spain at Academy of San Fernando. For income during his years at school, he drew clothing items for newspapers and fashion stores. He eventually came to design a dress for Francesca Lodge, U.S. Ambassador to Spain, which appeared on the cover of Life magazine. From here, he became interested in fashion and fashion design alike.

De La Renta has received many awards for his tasteful fashion lines, which are both colorful and smart. He has been a host for a plethora of celebrity designs and clients, including many of the First Ladies.

This season, Peter Copping continued to expand on the house’s signatures with Latin-influenced ruffles and higher necklines, as in this lovely lace number.

In 2006, De La Renta began his Bridal Fashion line, which has done tremendously well since its beginning.

Peter Copping infused his gorgeous Fall 2016 bridal collection with a ready-to-wear influence, reinterpreting styles from his spring 2016 runway with a bridal twist — and a particular focus on separates. Delicate embroidery — such as pearls, pale pink floral appliqués, sequins and bugle beads stitched together to create flower shapes — covered sheer bateau necklines and voluminous ballskirts, creating a soft, ethereal and distinctly feminine mood. A couple of sheer lace tops, done in short-sleeve and halter versions with ribbon ties, could be styled over column gowns or worn on their own with Copping’s frothy tulle skirts, one of them covered in hand-cut rosettes.

Vera Wang

 Vera Wang Bridal Fall 2016

Vera Wang is an American fashion designer who grew up in New York. Her parents both originate from China.

Originally, Wang aspired to be a figure skater, but failed to make it into U.S. Figure Skating Championships, and shortly after decided to pursue an art and fashion career. Wang went to school at University of Paris and studied Art history. In 1970, she become senior fashion editor for Vogue, but left shortly after.

Vera has made a name for herself in fashion, books and many other retail departments. She is a very well-known designer around the globe and has worked with the likes of Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Kate Hudson, and Michelle Obama. She also continues to design figure skating outfits.

Vera Wang

Deep-V necklines were everywhere this season, but none felt quite as cool as Vera Wang’s tiered dress with choker detailing.

In 2011, Vera launched ‘White by Vera Wang’, her first wedding collection and still designs gowns today. In addition to her numerous fashion and bridal lines in the states, she now sells ‘Vera Wang Bride’ in Sydney, Australia.

Vera Wang piled on the drama for fall in a playfully romantic bridal collection brimming with volume and exaggerated, girlish details. She was once again inspired by the allure of Spain, calling the collection “Hotel Madrid Part Two,” a continuation of last season’s sultry, sensual gowns. Oversize bows adorned many of her sultry, boudoir-inspired looks, complete with cutouts, sheer illusion mesh sleeves and intricate hand-embroidered passementiere bodices. A hint of darkness is de rigueur in Wang’s collections.

Carolina Herrera

This two-piece gown with a hazy, allover floral print would be perfect for the ultra feminine bride.

Carolina Herrera grew up in Venezuela. She is now based out of New York City.

Carolina is best known for her dramatic styles and has worked with the likes of Mick Jagger and Andy Warhol. She is also said to have excellence personal style, and has designed for many of America’s most classy women including Jackie Onassis.

Carolina Herrera aimed to channel a feeling of calmness and serenity in her fall bridal collection, rendering her gowns with transparency, illusion and fluidity to evoke a soft sensuality.

She worked feminine detailing such as sheer pleating, scalloped necklines and guipure lace appliqués into the gorgeous lineup of mostly V-neck styles — which Herrera finds most universally flattering — with the décolletage and neckline as the focal point of each gown. Elsewhere, a racer-back crop top and skirt look had a uniquely sporty, modern feel. The single strapless look, a ballgown with a green-and-pink hand-painted floral bodice, featured a voluminous skirt with varying layers of frothy tulle.

Carolina Herrera Bridal Fall 2016

Herrera said that above all she wants her bride to be beautiful, confident and seductive, but not overtly sexy. “There are other opportunities to be sexy,” she said. “You have to leave a little to the imagination, a little mystery.”

Today, she is applauded for her wedding collections and fashion lines around the world.

Monique Lhuillier

Long sleeves are always a chic choice. Monique Lhuillier kept hers light and easy with ultra-sheer chiffon and flowery appliqués.

Monique is a Filipino fashion designer, who originally grew up in Cebu City. After finishing school in Switzerland, Monique moved to Los Angeles to study fashion design, where she also met her husband Tom Bugbee.

In 1996, while looking for her own fashions for her wedding, Lhuillier decided to create her own line after seeing how limited the bridal fashion market was. She opened her store in 2001.

Today, she is most famous for her celebrity wedding gowns which cater to the likes of Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry.

For her Bridal Fall 2016 Collection, Monique Lhuillier envisioned her brides running through a romantic flower garden. The result was a dreamy, enchanting fall lineup. Her models floated down the runway in featherweight Chantilly and embroidered lace gowns — done in mostly ivory with a few subtle pops of blush and mint — many with detachable skirts, one featuring a cutaway hemline and another covered in feathers. Romantic accents, such as clusters of satin roses and floral lace-printed organza, added texture and dimension to the gowns, which featured plunging necklines and sheer sleeves.

Lhuillier managed to achieve an overall feeling of lightness, despite the elaborate, ornate opulence of each look.

Lela Rose

Off-the-shoulder silhouettes have been popular for a few seasons. Lela Rose’s gown is timeless—not trendy—thanks to a sleek cut and minimal embellishment.

Lela Rose is an American designer and originally hails from Dallas, Texas. She began her career in the University of Colorado as a painter and sculptor. She was led into fashion after she worked turning vintage scarfs into vests after college. In 1992, she moved to the Big Apple and pursued fashion at which time she worked under several fashion designers such as Richard Tyler and Christian Francis Roth.

Lela’s style is said to be girly and highly embellished. She launched her first fashion line out of her own apartment in 1996. In 2001, she famously designed fashions for Jenna and Barbara Bush at an inauguration.

Today, Lela has her own wedding collection called Lela Rose Wedding Collection which has seen much success. Some of her clients include Jessica Alba, Mary-Kate Olsen and Molly Sims.

Lela Rose Bridal Fall 2016

In her ultra feminine fall bridal 2016 collection, Lela Rose worked a range of textural fabrics, such as silver metallic fil coupé and silk jacquard with subtle pink undertones, on A-line, mermaid and fit-and-flare silhouettes. One standout gown with an open V-shaped back featured waxed, threaded embroidered tulle in a floral pattern, but even Rose’s less-embellished looks — an off-the-shoulder satin gown with cascading pearl trim and a tulle train, for example — proved equally elegant. Large-scale paper flower sculptures, created especially for the presentation at the Lehmann Maupin gallery in Chelsea, matched the hand-cut floral appliqués that covered a pair of frothy dresses, one in a halter-neck style and the other strapless, calf-length, and even more darling.
